Disappearing Faith

The light dusting of white
Covers the strangled branches
Of a long forgotten tree
And the memories of laughter,
Of sadness and anger,
Float away in the wind
Like nothing at all.

And the sun swallows them whole,
And it takes those snapshots of life
Into the world we once knew-
Of Joy, Caring, Hope
And turns them into a reality

A reality where winning is forgotten
And in its place is happiness
That dances in the air
Like a symphony of smiles
And love and equality.

But darkness comes and
The strangled branches
Of that long-forgotten tree
Is forgotten even more
And those beautiful memories

Are gone once again.
